Marcel Metze, The Netherlands, is the author of numerous articles and essays and a dozen in-depth journalistic books. In 2013 he founded De Onderzoeksredactie (now Investico), a non-profit organisation for investigative journalism, of which he was the editor-in-chief for two years. In 2019 he founded his second non-profit, The Investigative Desk.
Metze has been working as a journalist since 1979. Early in his career, he wrote for major Dutch newspapers and magazines. In the 1990s he began investigating big business and governmental agencies, and authored books on Philips Electronics, the major Dutch banks and the power structure in the Dutch corporate sector. In 2014, he revealed records proving that Philips Electronics worked closely with the NSA in developing cryptographic equipment in the 70s and 80s. He just finished High Stakes, his political biography of Shell (available 5 May 2023, initially only in Dutch as Hoog Spel)
